No. 10 Field Hockey Blanks No. 22 Delaware

NEWARK, Del. – No. 10 Rutgers field hockey earned another ranked victory on Sunday, downing No. 22 Delaware on the road by a 2-0. The Scarlet Knights improve to 6-1 on the year, with five of those wins coming against ranked foes.
RU was led by goals from Lucy Bannatyne and Kerrie Burns. Gianna Glatz made four saves to preserve the shutout. Shots on the day were even at 7-7, while corners were 4-2 in favor of Delaware.
Rutgers scored on the first shot of the game, just three minutes into the contest. Rachel Houston fed the ball into the arc, and Lucy Bannatyne was there to slam it home for an early 1-0 lead.
The Scarlet Knights then scored on their second shot on goal on the day. Kerrie Burns knocked home a rebound for a 2-0 lead at the end of the opening quarter. That lead carried into halftime, with the only two shots on goal in the first 30 minutes ending up in the back of the net.
In the third quarter, Delaware added pressure to the RU side. But Gianna Glatz came through with two saves to keep RU in front by two after three frames. Glatz continued to protect the net in the fourth frame, with two additional saves to keep the game scoreless and preserve the victory.

- The win was Rutgers' fifth ranked win of the season through seven games, as RU plays nine of its first 10 games against ranked foes.
- It was the third ranked win on the road this season (at No. 12 Duke, at No. 6 UConn) in addition to home wins over No. 16 Syracuse and No. 20 Monmouth.
- RU now has 24 ranked wins since Meredith Civico took over the program in 2012.
- In the 33rd meeting all-time between these programs, RU claimed its 10th lifetime victory, 3rd win at Delaware and first win over the Blue Hens since 2018.
- Lucy Bannatyne now leads the team with four goals on the season.
