LINCOLN, Neb. – The host Nebraska Cornhuskers took game two of the series on Saturday at Bowlin Stadium defeating Rutgers softball, 2-1.
The Scarlet Knights dropped to 23-14 overall and 1-4 in Big Ten play. The Cornhuskers won their ninth consecutive contest to up their mark to 24-9 overall and 4-0 in conference.

- Sophomore Kyleigh Sand went 2-for-3 to lead the Scarlet Knights and carried on her hitting streak extending it to 11 games. She scored RU's lone run, her team-leading 39th of the season.
- Freshman Maddie Lawson drove in the run off a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
- Graduate student Gabrielle Callaway's hit streak came to end at nine games on Saturday, but her on-base streak continued to 18-straight games reaching base on a fielder's choice and walk.
- Junior righthander Ashley Hitchcock fell to 9-10 overall. She gave up two runs on seven hits and struck out four Cornhuskers.
- Nebraska took advantage of bases-loaded situations in the second and third walking in a run in both frames for a 2-0 lead.
- Kiersten Withstandley closed out the third inning turning in a solo double play off a line drive to first to keep RU's deficit to a pair of runs.
- Rutgers had runners on the corners for Maddie Lawson in the top of the fifth. The rookie used a sacrifice fly to left to score Sand from third for RU to trail 2-1.
- The Scarlet Knights had the bases loaded with two outs in the sixth but the side was retired on the force at home to keep the Cornhuskers ahead.
The Scarlet Knights and Cornhuskers wrap up the series on Sunday with a 1 p.m. (ET) start time.
