SARASOTA, Fla. – Rutgers rowing placed 13th in the nation at the 2022 NCAA Championships at Nathan Benderson Park following finals racing on Sunday.
The Scarlet Knights compiled 64 team points to place 13th in the country at the national championship event. The Varsity 4 competed in the petite final of its boat class and finished ninth in the nation with a third-place finish in the race. The Varsity 8 and 2nd Varsity 8 both won their C finals on Sunday for 13th-place national finishes.

Justin Price after snapping an 18-year drought, the Scarlet Knights have averaged a 10th place national finish over this span of consistent excellence.
"I am incredibly proud of how our team performed today across all three boats," Price said. "It was a lot of fun to watch both Varsity 8's win their final and it was especially impressive to watch the Varsity 4 move through a large portion of the field to finish in the top-10 overall. We absolutely brought our best race on the last day of the season."
The Varsity 4 launched a comeback in their petite final race. Clocking in sixth of six boats at the midway, 1,000-meter mark, the Scarlet Knights found the next gear over the final 1,000, overtaking boats from No. 8 Michigan and No. 18 USC by the 1,500-meter buoy. Over the final 500 meters, Rutgers passed No. 4 Yale to claim third in the race and ninth overall in the NCAA Championships.
The Varsity 8 raced No. 15 Oregon State bow-ball to bow-ball throughout the C final and withstood a late charge by No. 18 USC to win the race by just over a second.
The 2nd Varsity 8 led their C final wire-to-wire, finishing in front of boats from No. 15 Oregon St., No. 14 Duke, No. 13 Syracuse, No. 18 USC and Boston University.
All three of Rutgers' NCAA boats outperformed their seeding heading into the national regatta, which had the V8 at 16th, and the 2V8 and V4 at 15th. As a team, Rutgers was ranked 16th prior to the NCAA Championships.
