UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Rutgers football (6-5, 3-5) dropped a road contest to No. 12 Penn State (9-2, 6-2) on Saturday afternoon, falling 27-6 at Beaver Stadium.
WR Isaiah Washington set a career high with five catches, good for 55 yards on the day. DB Desmond Igbinosun paced the defense with 10 tackles, while DB Eric Rogers broke up two passes. In addition, DB Shaquan Loyal forced a fumble recovered by DL Mayan Ahanotu.
PK Jai Patel went 2-for-2 on field goals, his fourth game of the season with multiple makes.

The Scarlet Knights started strong, forcing a Penn State three-and-out on the game's opening possession. The RU offense engineered a 14-play, 61-yard drive, which used up 9:01 of game clock and culminated in a 35-yard field goal from Patel to make it a 3-0 lead for Rutgers.
After the Nittany Lions posted a touchdown and field goal to take a 10-3 lead, the RU offense closed out the half with an eight-play, 49-yard drive that resulted in a 28-yard field goal from Patel as time expired, making it a 10-6 game.
The Scarlet Knights outgained Penn State, 153-126, in the opening half, with the defense forcing a turnover on a fumble caused by DB Shaquan Loyal and recovered by DL Mayan Ahanotu.
