Arkansas transfer and Canada native has three years of eligibility remaining
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer head coach Mike O'Neill announced the arrival of sophomore midfielder Patricia Tsokos to the 2024 roster. The Arkansas transfer will be immediately eligible for the spring semester and will have three seasons remaining "On the Banks."
Tsokos played in eight matches during her freshman season at Arkansas, scoring a goal in her collegiate debut in the season opening 6-0 win over Arkansas State. Arkansas went on to claim the SEC regular season championship, finished runner-up in the SEC Tournament, and made the second round of the NCAA Tournament before bowing out with a 15-5-2 overall record.
"We are excited to welcome Patricia to our program this spring," O'Neill said. "She is a very talented addition with a high level of ability and an equally strong character. Patricia's experience playing at the highest level on the national stage will boast the culture of our program. We are thrilled with her commitment and dedication to becoming a Scarlet Knight and looking forward to her having a strong impact, both on and off the field."
Before college, the Richmond Hill, Ontario native won gold with Team Ontario at the 2022 Canada Summer Games. Tsokos was a 2022 League 1 Ontario Premier Division champion playing with the U18 Ontario Provincial Excel team.
"I chose Rutgers because of the family-oriented, supportive, and competitive environment I felt from the team and coaches," Tsokos said. "Being at Rutgers will help me grow in all aspects and pursue my long-term goals of playing professional soccer through their amazing soccer program, resources, and academics. Stepping on campus and meeting the team instantly made me feel like home and I'm so excited to compete and play with them!"
Tsokos, a business major with a focus on global concentration, was a four-year honor roll member in high school. An all-around athlete, she also played basketball, volleyball, speak takraw (kick volleyball), track, and cross country in her youth. She also was involved in various clubs, including the Colts in Action club, Health Occupations Students of America – Canada club, and the Billz Girls Strong club.
