Maddy Sposito with Team USA at the Indoor World Cup

Field Hockey Assistant Coach is with Team USA Field Hockey as a Video Analyst for event in South Africa

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers field hockey assistant coach Maddy Sposito was named to the coaching staff of Team USA Field Hockey for the FIH Indoor World Cup. Sposito will be a video analyst for the international squad at the event, which took place in Pretoria, South Africa.

Sposito worked with the Team USA women's squad, who closed out the event with the team's highest ever finish. A victory over Kazakhstan in the finale gave the Red, White and Blue, who entered ranked 14th in the world, a ninth place finish.

Sposito, who is currently the team's Director of Performance and Analytics, has been an assistant coach at Rutgers since joining the staff originally in 2015 as a volunteer assistant coach. She spent two years in that role before being promoted to assistant coach in 2017. In Sposito's time on the Rutgers staff, RU has compiled 76 wins. Rutgers reached the NCAA Tournament twice in that time (2018 and 2021) and captured the Big Ten Tournament title in 2021, the first team at Rutgers to win a Big Ten Tournament title in any sport.

Sposito recently traveled with the US Junior Men's and Women's field hockey teams as a video analyst for the 2021 Junior Pan American Cup in Chile, assisting with both teams as they won a bronze medal in a shootout.

A former goalkeeper with experience at the collegiate and international levels, Sposito works closely with the team's goalkeepers. She has helped mentor goalkeeper Gianna Glatz, who has excelled in her career as the Scarlet Knights goalkeeper. Glatz has earned multiple All-American, All-Big Ten and All-Region honors, and was the 2021 Big Ten Co-Player of the Year. Glatz also competed in that 2021 Junior Pan American Cup in Chile with Sposito on the Team USA staff.
