CHERRY HILL, N.J. – Rutgers women's rowing opened the 2023 season on Saturday on the Cooper River, the site of the NCAA Championships in May, squaring off against Harvard and Syracuse in the morning session and opposite Yale in the afternoon.
 
In addition to the competition, the Scarlet Knights also battled headwind, rain, and choppy waters on a overcast, early-Spring day. Yale placed fifth in the 2022 NCAA Championships, while Syracuse finished 17th. The morning session had rain and building winds up to 14 miles per hour, then the afternoon featured a direct headwind of 20 miles per hour that did not calm until the final race.
 
Rutgers will return to action next weekend at the Doc Hosea Invitational back on the Cooper River.
