PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Seven former Scarlet Knights wrapped up training camp last weekend with professional lacrosse teams, and made the 25-man rosters for the beginning of the 2023 season. The Premier Lacrosse League is set to begin this weekend, and these RU alumns took part in training camp in Albany ahead of the PLL season beginning on June 3.
The Cannons' boasted three RU products on the camp roster. Recently signed
Ethan Rall joined Adam Charalambides and
Colin Kirst, who each made their PLL debuts with the club last season.
Michael Rexrode is set for his third season with Atlas LC as one of the league's top defensemen. The former Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and 2021 PLL All-Star is set to play his 50
th professional lacrosse game this year, his sixth season overall.
Jules Heningburg is again with the Redwoods. The three-time PLL All-Star is set for his fourth season of action with the franchise, as has 111 points on 70 goals and 41 assists in his 40 career pro games.
Christian Scarpello returns to the defending champion Waterdogs. The short-stick defensive midfielder has played in 16 career pro games and had key contributions to the squad's championship run last season.
Connor Kirst is on the Whipsnakes for the third season. The former First Round pick had nine points and 16 ground balls in 10 games with the club last season.
These rosters do not include five RU players who were with PLL clubs last season. Joe Nardella, a four-time All-Star, is currently out with an injury.
Brennan Kamish, Kyle Pless,
Mitch Bartolo and Christian Mazzone also saw time on PLL rosters last season.
Week one features two national television games on ABC, with former Scarlet Knights in each. On Saturday June 3 at 1 pm, Heningburg's Redwoods take on Rexrode's Atlas. On Sunday, Scarpello's Waterdogs face the Chaos at 1 pm on ABC.

This success placing players in the pros has been accelerated recently, with 29 alumni coached at RU by current head coach
Brian Brecht to go on to the professional level.
