PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Colin Kirst, an All-American goalkeeper for Rutgers men's lacrosse in 2021 and 2022, was named to the All-Star Game roster for the Premier Lacrosse League. Kirst was tabbed for the league's "Rising Stars" team for the game that will take place in Louisville, Ky. on July 22.
The All-Star Game will air at 7:30pm ET on ESPN and ESPN+. The Rising Stars roster represents those with fewer than four professional seasons. All-Stars were selected by fan voting through the first four weeks of the 2023 PLL season.
Kirst has played in three games thus far this season, holding a 50.0% save percentage and has made 26 total saves along with collecting seven ground balls. The Cannons are 2-0 in games he's started this season.
Kirst was a Second Team All-American by the USILA in 2022 after making 234 saves for RU, third most in program history, while leading the team to the Final Four. He also had 137 saves as a Third Team All-American in 2021 as RU made the Elite Eight. The Bernardsville, N.J. native was a two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection.
Kirst was a Third Round draft pick of the PLL's Cannons, making his debut for the team last season. He is also a member of the Las Vegas Desert Dogs franchise in the NLL. Kirst will be the fourth different RU alumn to play in a PLL All-Star Game. Jules Heningburg, Joe Nardella and Michael Rexrode have all previously been named All-Stars by the PLL.
Kirst is one of seven RU products on PLL rosters this season, a number that does not include Nardella, who is currently out with an injury. Kirst is teammates with fellow RU products
Ethan Rall and Adam Charalambides. Rall has made an immediate impact as a rookie, with 11 ground balls and five caused turnovers in three games.
Connor Kirst has 11 ground balls, two caused turnovers and two goals for the Whipsnakes.
Michael Rexrode scored his first pro goal last week for the Atlas. The defenseman has 13 ground balls and four caused turnovers. He was preiously an All-Star in 2021
Jules Heningburg has seven points on three goals and four assists for the Redwoods. He has been named to the All-Star game three times previously, in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
Christian Scarpello has five ground balls in three games for the Waterdogs.
