Postgame Quotes

Head Coach Steve Pikiell

On facing a tough Michigan State team:

"That final stretch was tough. It's always tough playing on the road and I thought we played good transition defense. That's obviously what they do. We gave a good 26 minutes, but it's a 40-minute game. The game got away from us and they out-toughed us on some plays. The ball consistently went in for them, and we had to play our 40-minute game. We had the game where we needed it to be, and we just needed to keep banging away. I have to do a better job at preparing these guys on the road."

On any positive outlooks from the game:

"I thought we were really locked in on what we had to do, but a team like Michigan State will keep coming at you. They hit some threes in transition in the second half and they didn't have any in the first half. They beat us on the backboards by seven rebounds. We just have to play better and I have to do a better job."

On preparation for next week vs Nebraska:

"It will be good to be back home again. We just have to get healthier. I worry about these games because Mawot [Mag] logged a lot of minutes, and so did Austin Williams. I have to make sure these guys are in good places. There is help coming on the way, so having a couple more guys on our active roster would be great, but I know we're close and we have to do it for all 40 minutes."
