Summary

Biography

Mawot Mag is a six-foot-seven, wing who has battled through injuries and is one of the most athletic players on the Scarlet Knights roster. Mag will bring a veteran presence to a young Scarlet Knights team during the 2023-24 campaign.
 
In 2022-23, Mag started the first 23 games of the season prior to a season-ending ACL injury in February. He returned to action in a win over Seton Hall on December 9. 

Mag made one of the most impactful plays of the 2021-22 season with a back door slam in the final minutes of the victory over No. 1 Purdue.

2023-24 (Senior): 
  • Played in 17 games (16 starts), averaging 9.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in 26.8 minutes per game at forward
  • Made season debut in win over rival Seton Hall in the Garden State Hardwood Classic (December 9), making an immediate impact with eight rebounds and four points in 24 minutes as starter
  • Had 10 points, four rebounds, three assists, two blocks in win over LIU
  • Scored 11 points at Ohio State
  • Had first career double-double with career-high 24 points and career-high 10 rebounds at Iowa
  • Led team with 13 points in win over Indiana, with eight points, and matched career-highs with four assists and three steals 
  • Posted 12 points at Michigan State
  • Scored 16 points in win over Nebraska
  • Notched 15 points with three steals in win at Michigan
  • Posted 15 points in win at Maryland, first time in his career with 15 points in back-to-back games
  • Had 12 points in win over No. 9/11 Wisconsin
2022-23 (Junior):
  • In the starting lineup for first 23 games, averaging 7.8 points and 5.8 rebounds prior to season-ending injury
  • Scored in double-figures five times 
  • Scored over seven points in 15 of 23 games
  • Shot 50.0% from the field (67-of-134)
  • Career-high nine rebounds in win over No. 8/10 Indiana
  • Made game-sealing corner three-pointer in OT, with a career-high 15 points and collecting eight rebounds against Ohio State
  • Was announced on February 7 that he will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL
2021-22 (Sophomore)
  • Played in 28 matchups, started in two
  • Had career-highs of 13 points and 7 rebounds in the win over Nebraska on 4-4 shooting, hitting one of the game-tying shots to help Rutgers secure the victory.
  • Returned against Maryland on the road after missing two and a half games with a mouth injury suffered in the victory at home over Michigan.  
2020-21 (Freshman): 
  • Played in 12 contests, averaging 2.0 points and 1.1 rebounds 
  • Made Rutgers debut in season-opening win over Sacred Heart (Nov. 25), scoring two points and adding four rebounds
  • Collected six points and five rebounds in win over FDU (Nov. 27)
  • Scored five points (3-of-4 on free throws) in win over Hofstra (Nov. 29)
Prior to Rutgers: 
  • Played for Prolific Prep in California for two seasons after spending a year at Victory Rock Prep in Florida
  • As a senior, averaged 10.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals
  • As a junior, played in six games, averaging 10.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 blocks
  • Posted high of 25 points in win over Golden State Prep
  • Was limited by injuries in last two seasons
