Jamichael Davis returns to Rutgers for the 2026-27 season as the most tenured Scarlet Knight on the roster and a second-year team captain, bringing experience, toughness, and defensive intensity back to the backcourt. A four-year player who will graduate from Rutgers next year, Davis was named team captain by head coach Steve Pikiell following a victory over Maine and has served as the steady veteran presence in the program. Davis averaged 7.5 points, 2.5 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game during the 2025-26 season while shooting 40.2 percent from the field. He also shot a career-best 35.8 percent from three-point range and logged a career-high 26.2 minutes per game, which ranked among the team leaders.
2025-26 Season
- Named team captain by Coach Pikiell in the locker room following the win over Maine
- Scored eight points with two rebounds, two assists and two steals in the win over Maine
- Scored 14 points with four rebounds and two assists in a win over Lehigh
- Posted a career-high 21 points in a loss to Notre Dame, with childhood friend Ace Bailey in attendance
- Recorded a season-high six assists vs. UNLV
- Scored 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field with three steals
2024-25 Season
- Played in all 32 games with 7 starts, averaging 4.6 points in 18.0 minutes per game
- Recorded 29 steals and 55 assists on the season
- Shot 37.0 percent from the field, 33.0 percent from three-point range and 65.0 percent from the free-throw line

- Played in 31 games with 14 starts, averaging 23.0 minutes per game with 58 assists and 35 steals on the season
- Averaged 5.6 points per game, with five games of at least four assists and seven games with two or more steals
- Shot 37.0 percent on two-point attempts, 22.0 percent from three-point range and 52.0 percent from the free-throw line
- Averaged 3.1 rebounds per game (97 total), scoring 174 total points on the season
- Scored in double figures on seven occasions
- Notched 11 points and six assists in his first career start vs. Seton Hall, and scored in double figures against top-ranked teams including Indiana and No. 2 Purdue
High School
- At Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School, averaged 22.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game while shooting over 60.0 percent from the field, putting him on pace to become the school's all-time leading scorer before transferring to pursue a state title
- Transferred to McEachern High School, where he averaged 22.0 points, 13.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game, earning First Team All-Region honors

Personal
- Also known as "J-Mike," Davis added 15 pounds of muscle in the offseason through significant time in the weight room
- One of four returning players for the Scarlet Knights this season, expected to play a key leadership role
- Off the court, enjoys eating — especially hot wings — and playing video games, including NBA 2K, NCAA Football and Call of Duty
- Has been close friends with former teammate and current Utah Jazz star Ace Bailey since childhood; the two also attended the same high school
