Rasheed Jones joins Rutgers as a graduate transfer after spending the last two seasons at Coastal Carolina, where he established himself as one of the Sun Belt’s most complete guards. A 6-foot-6, 190-pound playmaker, Jones started 61 of 64 games for the Chanticleers and arrives in Piscataway with significant collegiate experience and proven versatility on both ends of the floor.
During the 2025-26 season, Jones averaged 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1.0 steals per game while starting all 32 contests and logging 36.3 minutes per night. He shot 39.8 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from three-point range, and 80.7 percent from the free-throw line. As a redshirt sophomore in 2024-25, Jones started 29 of 32 games and averaged 11.6 points per game, ranking second on the team in scoring, three-pointers made (66), and assists (66). He scored in double figures 20 times that season, including a season-high 21 points against Winthrop, and connected on three or more threes in 12 games.
Prior to Coastal Carolina, Jones spent the 2023-24 season at Northwest Florida State College, averaging 11.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists while shooting 45.3 percent from the field. He began his collegiate career at Western Carolina, redshirting in 2022-23. A product of Marion High School in Indiana, Jones scored more than 1,000 career points in three varsity seasons and earned two All-North Central Conference selections along with Indiana All-State Top 30 recognition.
“Rasheed is our type of guard,” Pikiell said. “He has size, can defend, shoot from three and the foul line, and plays with energy and grit. We’re excited to add a player with his experience and versatility to our program.” “I bring whatever my team needs to win,” Jones said. “My strengths are shooting, playmaking, and defending — and I’m going to bring energy every single night.”
