How it Happened
- With an untraditional start at 149 pounds, Michael Cetta opened the dual with Andy Troczynski and landed the first takedown of the night midway through the first period. Cetta sealed the win with a four-point tilt from the top position in the third period, helping Rutgers to a quick 3-0 lead.
- The Quakers would respond with four consecutive wins from 157 through 184 pounds to own a 14- 3 lead with five bouts to go.
- The Scarlet Knights began to take momentum back thanks to Poznanski, who landed four takedowns and hit a four-point near fall on No. 25 Cole Urbas for an 18-1 tech fall. Slavikouski followed with seven takedowns on John Stout for a 21-5 tech fall, with the back-to-back bonus-point victories making it just a 14-13 advantage for Penn.
- No. 2 Dean Peterson followed against Ryan Miller. After he conceded an early takedown, Peterson landed two of his own to grit out a 10-4 decision and gave Rutgers back its lead at 16-14 with two matches against top-15 opponents remaining.
- In the match of the night, Shawver faced Colaiocco and trailed the Quaker 7-3 through two periods after Colaiocco added a takedown and two near fall in period two. After both traded scoring actions down the stretch, Colaiocco held an 8-6 advantage with 10 seconds to go before Shawver caught Colaiocco with a single leg. Both would scramble until Shawver caught Colaiocco at the buzzer. Review would confirm a 9-8 win for Shawver and a 19-14 lead for the Scarlet Knights.
- Moore closed the dual with a 5-0 decision against Composto, using a takedown in the first period for his second ranked win of the season. The decision earned RU a 22-14 win over Penn heading into Sunday's match with Rider.
