PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse has begun its fall practices as 25 newcomers have been welcomed into the program. The Scarlet Knights have retooled and are integrating the newest members of the program into the team's systems and concepts. As October begins, Rutgers is getting ready for a trio of competitions.
First, on Wednesday, October 9, the program welcomes Keio University from Japan to campus for an international exhibition. This will be the third time that RU welcomes the Japanese program to campus, also having faced them during the fall of 2014 and 2016.
The weekend of October 19-20 is Homecoming Weekend on campus, with alumni set to return to campus during the weekend that features the homecoming football game on Saturday against UCLA. The program will host an alumni event during the football game against UCLA, as alumns are encouraged to contact the lacrosse office for further information.
On Sunday, the men's lacrosse program hosts its annual team banquet and alumni game. The Sunday festivities will include the presentation of 2024 team awards at the banquet, and a scrimmage against the alumni at 11 am.
Finally, the Scarlet Knights will close out October's fall competitions with a tri-scrimmage. On Sunday, October 27, RU will welcome Brown and Bryant to campus for scrimmages. Game times will be 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Fall competitions are open to the public. They will be held at the F3 Practice Field.
The Scarlet Knights approach the 2025 spring campaign looking to continue to prove their mettle in the nation's top lacrosse conference. Over the past three full seasons since returning from the shortened 2020 campaign, RU is 39-21. In that time, the Scarlet Knights claimed 14 ranked wins. RU has 37 ranked wins since 2003, and 27 of them have come since 2012 under head coach Brian Brecht.
