Men’s Lacrosse Announces 2025 Schedule
Dec 12 | Men's Lacrosse
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse today announced the team's schedule for the upcoming 2025 season with a 14-game slate. The Scarlet Knights will resume action as is typical on the first weekend of February. The season opener for this season comes on February 1, the earliest season opener in program history.
Rutgers will face four teams that finished in the top-10 of the NCAA RPI last season and 10 that finished in the top-25. That includes matchups against seven teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season (Maryland, Michigan, Penn State, Johns Hopkins, Princeton, St. Joe's, Lehigh). RU will take on the defending champions of the Big Ten, Ivy, Patriot and A-10.
The 2025 season starts on the road, as RU will play Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. to begin the year. That is followed by four of the next five games at SHI Stadium. RU welcomes LIU for an early midweek game, then plays five straight weekend games. After hosting Stony Brook, RU travels to Army for the annual rivalry game in West Point. Home games against Loyola and St. Joe's precede another annual rivalry game at Princeton. Non-conference play concludes with a two-home game week, against St. Joe's and UMass.
This year's conference slate in the six-time Big Ten sees RU play two home games and three road games. League play opens with consecutive trips to Johns Hopkins and Ohio State. That is followed by the two home games against Maryland and Penn State, prior to wrapping the season in State College against Penn State.
Once again this season, the Big Ten Tournament will be a two-week affair. Opening rounds are hosted by the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds, with the top two seeds getting byes. On the first weekend in May, the University of Michigan will host Semifinals and Finals on Thursday and Saturday.
This season's schedule sees the re-addition of games against St. Joe's, St. John's and LIU. RU has faced the Red Storm 18 times in the 20 seasons since 2005, while Rutgers and St. Joe's will meet in the regular season for the first time since 2011 and LIU returns to SHI Stadium after playing there in 2022.
In the preseason, RU will host scrimmages in the bubble against Hofstra and Villanova on Saturday, January 25. Unique to this year's slate, RU will take a training trip to Florida in mid-January, where the team will contest scrimmages against Tampa and Jacksonville, which will be played on January 18 (at Tampa, then vs. Jacksonville at IMG Academy in Bradenton).
With the schedule now official, tickets for home games are now on sale. Season tickets are currently available for $70. Single game tickets will be on sale this season for $15. Tickets for groups of 20 or more and youth tickets will cost $10 per ticket. For ticket information, please visit here or contact the ticket office at 866-445-4678.
All game dates and times are subject to change. Full television schedules and streaming information will be finalized and released at a future date.
Over the past three full seasons since returning from the shortened 2020 campaign, RU is 39-21. In that time, the Scarlet Knights have claimed 14 ranked wins. RU has 37 ranked wins since 2003, and 27 of them have come since 2012 under head coach Brian Brecht.
