PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer landed four student-athletes on the United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Teams for the 2024 season. Senior back
Emily Mason (First Team), redshirt sophomore
Olivia Bodmer (Third Team), senior forward
Riley Tiernan (Fourth Team), and freshman midfielder
Shaela Bradley (Fourth Team) are the Scarlet Knights' Regional All-Americans.
With her First Team honor, Mason becomes eligible for United Soccer Coaches All-America for 2024. The Flemington, New Jersey native earns her third Regional All-America honor, and second First Team nod. Mason anchored a stellar defense in 2024 that posted eight team shutouts. A steady presence in the back, Mason played all but two minutes the entire season and scored two goals and picked up an assist out of the back. Mason and the defense allowed four or less shots on goal in 12 matches this season, including seven with three or less shots on target by the opposition. Mason was named the National Player of the Week and the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 24.
Bodmer put on an unprecedented performance in the Big Ten Tournament semifinal against No. 4 USC. Facing 26 shots and 10 corner kicks during 110 minutes of double-overtime playoff soccer, Bodmer made seven saves to force a penalty shootout, including three in overtime. In PK's, as Rutgers converted three shots in a row, Bodmer saved an unheard-of three penalties in a row - henceforth known as The Bodmer - to clinch the 3-0 PK result to advance Rutgers to its fourth Big Ten Tournament championship match. Bodmer claimed the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week honor after a 1-0 shutout at Michigan and a 1-1 draw at No. 1 Michigan State, marking Rutgers' first Goalkeeper of the Week conference honor since Meagan McClelland in 2021.
Tiernan grabs her fourth Regional All-America award in as many collegiate seasons. Tiernan scored four goals and added 11 assists in her final season "On the Banks" - with her 0.6 assists per game mark ranking eighth in the NCAA this year. She played the full 90 minutes in seven Big Ten matches, scoring two goals - including the game-winner in the 1-0 win over Washington - with four assists. Along the way, Tiernan became the all-time record holder at Rutgers with 34 career assists and moved into sixth place all-time in the Big Ten in career helpers. She graduates sixth in Rutgers history with 72 career points.
Bradley is one of just 16 freshman on the United Soccer Coaches Regional All-America list. The La Center, Oregon native burst onto the scene, earning a spot in the starting lineup in all 21 matches during her rookie year. Three of her four goals came in Big Ten play, including the tying goal in the 1-1 draw at No. 19 Penn State and the game-winner in the 2-1 victory over Illinois. Bradley added four assists, including two in conference matches and one in the NCAA Tournament. She earned a pair of Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors in 2024.
Rutgers qualified for its 13th consecutive NCAA Tournament, finished fifth in the new 18-team Big Ten Conference, and advanced to the Big Ten Tournament Championship game for the fourth time since joining the league in 2014.
