Tina Celik Sets Rutgers 100 Breast Record In Podium Finish At B1G Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Seven Scarlet Knights reached finals on day three of the 2024 Big Ten Championships which included a new Rutgers record in the 100 breast.

Rutgers had a trio of Scarlet Knights in the 100 breast finals, including its first-ever podium finish in the event with a school-record time by Tina Celik. Additionally, Scarlet Knights reached finals racing in the 100 back and 400 IM while Holly Prasanto returned to consolation finals in diving for the second-straight evening.

SPRINTS
  • Tina Celik reached the podium in the 100 breast with a new Rutgers school record. The Scarlet Knight finished sixth in the top heat of the event hitting the wall in 1:00.41 and besting the previous top tie of 1:00.65 set by Rachel Kimmel last season.
  • Elysha Pribadi captured an NCAA B cut and posted the sixth fastest time in school history in the B finals of the 100 breast. She clocked in at 1:01.40 to finish third in the heat.
  • Molly Urkiel rounded out the trio of 100 breast finalists with a C finals appearance. Approximately 30 minutes after finishing her 400 IM C final race, Urkiel took second in the heat logging a tie of 1:01.72 marking the eighth fastest time in the RU record books.
  • Rutgers had two Scarlet Knights in the 100 back finals. Martyna Piesko set a new PR in the prelims with 54.07, the eighth fastest time at RU and finished eighth in the C final in 54.59. Valeria Egorova returned to the B finals for the second straight year. After winning her prelim heat, she placed third in the B final in 53.64
DISTANCE
  • Molly Urkiel qualified for the C finals of the 400 IM with a prelim time of 4:16.73 marking the third-fastest time in the RU record books. She finished sixth in the C final with a time of 4:18.10.
DIVING
  • Holly Prasanto made the consolation finals for the second straight evening. In the 3M prelims, she placed 15th overall scoring 277.35 while in finals, Prasanto posted a score of 221.00 to take eighth in the consolation round and 16th overall.

  • Big Ten Championship action continues on day three with the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 3-meter diving and 200 free relay.
