Three from Men’s Lacrosse Named Scholar All-Americans by USILA

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse had three student-athletes recognized as Scholar All-Americans. Brandon Hund, Shane Knobloch and Ross Scott were recognized by the USILA.

With the addition of these three Scholar All-Americans, Rutgers now has 42 Scholar All-Americans in program history, including 38 in the past 10 years and 29 in the past five years. Scott earns Scholar All-American recognition for the second straight season.

Last year, RU had five Scholar All-Americans (Bobby Russo, Brad Apgar, David Sprock, Jonathan Dugenio and Ross Scott). Zackary Franckowiak, Colin Kirst, Ethan Rall, Brennan Kamish, Jaryd Jean-Felix, Ronan Jacoby, Ryan Gallagher and Mitch Bartolo were all recognized as USILA Schoalr All-Americans in 2022. In 2021 Adam Charalambides, Ryan Gallagher, Jaryd Jean-Felix, Connor Kirst, Zach Masessa and Kieran Mullins all earned the accolade. In 2020, Kieran Mullins and Adam Charalambides were recognized. The 2019 group was Adam Charalambides, Mark Christiano, Max Edelmann, Garrett Michaeli and Kyle Pless. Those selections joined Christian Mazzone and Michael Rexrode (2018), Connor Murphy (2017), Scott Bieda and Zack Sikora (2016), Joe Nardella and Campbell Sode (2015), Will Mangan (2012), Brian Shemesh (2011), Jamie Lovejoy (2005) and Jeff Duca (2003).

The USILA Scholar All-America Program was established to recognize student-athletes from USILA member institutions who have distinguished themselves academically, athletically and as citizens of their communities. The USILA Selection Committee selects an overall team representing Division I, II and III.

Hund played in 13 games at short-stick defensive midfield in his lone season at RU, scooping 20 ground balls with two caused turnovers, three assists and one goal. The Clark, N.J. native and product of Arthur L. Johnson High School was named to the 2024 USILA Senior All-Star Game roster.

Knobloch was a First Team All-American, First Team All-Big Ten and First Team All-ECAC selection this past season. The Moorsetown, N.J. native was the national Midfielder of the Year and was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. He scored 29 goals with 11 assists to finish with 98 goals and 49 assists for his career.

Scott finished his time at RU with his third career All-American honors in addition to a placement of the First Team All-Big Ten team. The West Linn, Oregon native is a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. He scored 20 goals and had 25 assists this past season to finish his career with 109 goals and 73 assists.

Rutgers also was recognized with 18 Academic All-Big Ten selections.
