PISCATAWAY, N.J. -Â No. 11 Rutgers field hockey lost a nail-biter in Piscataway today losing 1-0 to No. 13 Saint Joseph's.
In a defensive battle the Scarlet Knights had nine shots, two each from
Kara Heck,
Anna Cogdell andÂ
Guillermina Causarano.
Sophia Howard had three saves on the day.
Alison Buffington scored the lone goal for the Hawks, assisted by Erika Culp as soon as the fourth quarter started.Â
Overall, shots were tied 9-9, while SJU held the advantage in penalty corners 4-2. Rutgers dominated the first quarter with five shots and two corners but were not able to convert on the early opportunities.
