HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Rutgers women's lacrosse (5-2) delivered an 11-8 victory over Hofstra (5-2), on Saturday afternoon in Hempstead, New York. Down 7-6 with 12:45 to play, the Scarlet Knights closed the day with a 5-1 scoring run to secure their second win in as many games.

Rookie Caroline Ling produced the first hat trick of her career, with all three of her goals coming during RU's fourth-quarter scoring run. Senior Alexa Corbin tallied a team-high four points on three helpers and a goal, while junior Lily Dixon added three assists. Classmate Ava Chiarella also pitched in three points with two assists and a score.

Junior Katie Buck secured a game-high six draw controls, while senior captain Emalie Clothier caused two turnovers. Graduate goalkeeper Lexie Coldiron earned her fifth win of the season, allowing just eight goals to go along with five saves and five ground balls.

The Pride scored back-to-back goals to open the afternoon before senior captain Victoria Goldrick took a pass from Chiarella to get RU on the board with 11:27 left in the first. Rutgers closed the quarter with consecutive goals from Corbin and redshirt freshman Samantha Swanovich, making it a 3-3 game through the first 15 minutes.

The game continued to go back and forth, as Hofstra held a 5-3 lead six minutes into the second quarter. Rutgers once again responded, this time with goals from Chiarella and freshman Delainey Sutley to tie the game at 5-5 with six minutes to go before halftime. A late Hofstra goal gave the home team a 6-5 advantage at the midpoint.

Sophomore Payton Tini scored the only goal of the third quarter for either team to tie the game at 6-6.

Hofstra's Nikki Mennella gave the Pride a 7-6 lead before Ling sparked RU's late scoring rally. Dixon found a cutting Ling to tie the game at 7-7, while back-to-back goals from sophomore Kayleigh Coughlin and freshman Hilary Elsner put RU up 9-7 with seven minutes to play. Ling then added two more goals, with her third of the day making it an 11-8 final.
