PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The Rutgers men’s soccer team unveiled its new program crest Tuesday afternoon.
“The Rutgers men’s soccer program and Rutgers University both have incredible histories,” head coach Jim McElderry said. “With this crest, we are first honoring Rutgers University and its many unique qualities. At the same time reminding us all of the year the men’s soccer program was established and how proud we are to continue to represent the university, our alums and the countless Rutgers soccer supporters.”

The design features multiple Scarlet Knight symbols including the primary block R in the top left, the sword down the middle and the New Jersey state outline on the top right.
The entire crest is also in the shape of a shield, which can be found across athletics to signify RU. At the bottom, you can find the team's inaugural season, 1938.
The crest also highlights the surrounding area of campus, like the Raritan River flowing at the bottom. There are also bridge piers representing the John A. Lynch Sr. Memorial Bridge, which connects the Busch, College Ave. and Livingston campuses together.
The crest will be displayed on digital graphics, print materials as well as used throughout the 2025 fall campaign and beyond.
“We look forward to wearing the new Rutgers Men’s Soccer crest with immense pride,” added McElderry.
