Casale’s Third-Place Finish Highlights Action at F&M Open

LANCASTER, Pa. – PJ Casale (197) placed third to highlight action for No. 16 Rutgers wrestling at the David H. Lehman '68 F&M Open on Friday in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Casale went 4-1 on the day, including a 9-6 victory in sudden victory over No. 33 Karson Tompkins (Air Force) to advance to the championship semifinals. Casale would then fall to the third-place match, where he won by medical forfeit over Owen Heiser (Air Force).
Several Scarlet Knights enjoyed impressive outings at the open. After a second-round loss, Max Hermes (157) ripped off four consecutive wins to finish his day at 5-1. Mason Gibson (141) went 4-2, which included two wins on the front side of the bracket.
In unattached action, Billy Townson (133) muscled four wins, including two pins. Townson, Hermes and Dagen Condomitti (157) all contributed falls on the day.
