Swimming and Diving Posts Strong First Day in Meet at Nebraska

RU Has 3 First Place Finishes, 10 Spots in the Top-3 in Events
LINCOLN, Nebraska – The Scarlet Knights opened up a two-day meet against Big Ten foe Nebraska. The Scarlet Knights had a number of strong performances across the pool deck in the first day of the meet, which concludes on Saturday morning.
Rutgers had two first place finishes in swimming, plus the top performer in diving on Friday night. The Scarlet Knights had a total of nine top-3 finishes in the swimming portion, in addition to a first and third finish on the springboard. RU had one new entry to the program's top-10 all-time list, with diver Sephora Ford posting the 9th best score in program history on the 3M dive.
Ana Hazlehurst earned Rutgers' a first place finish in the second individual event of the evening. Competing in an event where she already owns a top-3 time in program history earlier this season, she touched the wall just behind that personal best mark, claiming the event title at 2:01.21. The Scarlet Knights took first as well in the next event. In the 200 breaststroke, Sofia Bartoloni took first in 2:14.28.
The Scarlet Knights had five additional individual top-three finishes on the evening. Anna Vlachou, a Nebraska transfer competing against her old school, placed second in the 100 freestyle. The former Husker had three silver medal finishes on the day. Also, Blanka Berecz took second in the 200 butterfly. Rutgers also had a trio of third place finishes, by Ava Jurkiewicz (200 Breast), Angelica Bath (200 Back) and Cameron Kuriger (200 Fly).
In relays, the Scarlet Knights opened the night with a second place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. The team closed the night with the 200 Free Relay, also claiming second.
Rutgers divers competed in the 3M dive on Friday night. Katerina Hoffman took first place with a score of 339.75. Sephora Ford finished third with a score of 332.03. Ford's score was the ninth best mark in program history on the 3M dive.
The meet takes place over the course of two days. On Saturday morning, the team will compete in the 400 Medley Relay, 1650 Free, 50 Free, 100 Back, 100 Breast, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 400 IM and the 400 Free Relay, as well as the 1M dive. Nebraska holds a 102-65 lead
