Short-Stick Defensive Midfielder Named Second Team All-American
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's lacrosse short-stick defensive midfielder Joe Juengerkes was named an All-American by USA Lacrosse. The organization announced their postseason listing on Thursday, the first of the three postseason All-American listings that will be revealed following the 2026 season, preceding the full Media and Coaches' lists.
Juengerkes completed his second season 'On the Banks' in 2026. A two-time team captain, he was named a First Team All-Big Ten selection this season. A preseason All-American by multiple publications, he posted a season with 44 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers and seven points (five goals and two assists). His 13 caused turnovers ranked among the top-six nationally for short-sticks. With Juengerkes on the defensive end, RU had a top-20 scoring defense nationally while holding seven opponents to single digits. Across two seasons in a Scarlet Knight uniform, he played in 31 games, scoring 12 goals with six assists and had 99 ground balls with 29 caused turnovers.
This week, the Islip, N.Y. native became the newest Scarlet Knight in the Premier Lacrosse League. He joined the Maryland Whipsnakes ahead of the PLL season, which starts this weekend.
This marks the second career All-American accolade for Juengerkes, and his highest honor. Last season, he was named an Honorable Mention All-American by three different publications.
