Hoffman, Schinsky, Alberti and Hazlehurst to Captain Scarlet Knights
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers swimming and diving has announced its four team captains. Katerina Hoffman, Ellie Schinsky, Chiara Alberti and Ana Hazlehurst will be the squad's captains heading into next season.
Schinsky returns for her second straight season as a team captain as a fifth-year senior. Competing in the backstroke and butterfly, the Windham, Maine native, two times on Rutgers' all-time top ten list. She posted a 1:59:69 in the 200 fly at the 2024 Minnesota Invite (seventh all-time), and swam a 54.19 in the 100 fly, the ninth fastest time in program history. A Communication and Public Health major, she was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National Honor Society for student-athletes, and was named Academic All-Big Ten.
Hoffman was named the team's Diver of the Year and Galbraith Award winner last season after excelling on the boards for the Scarlet Knights as a sophomore. She was a Second Team All-American on 3-Meter, where she placed 14th at the NCAA Championships. She also won the 1M and 3M at the NCAA Zone A Championships to earn her place at NCAAs. At the Big Ten Championships, Hoffman reached the podium with finals appearances in 3M (7th) and 1M (8th) while reaching consolation finals on the Platform and holds top-10 marks in program history on all three boards.
Hazlehurst was the team's Newcomer of the Year after making an instant impact on the team after joining RU for her sophomore season in 2025-26 following a transfer from Indiana University. Named a Big Ten Preseason Swimmer to Watch, the native of Lutherville Timonium in Maryland excelled in the pool. Hazlehurst made three finals appearances at the Big Ten Championships, reaching the B Finals in the 400 IM and the C Final in the 200 IM and the 200 Butterfly. Her time of 1:59:33 in the 200 IM was the second fastest swim in the event in program history, while she also touched the wall with a time of 4:13:88 in the 400 IM that was the third fastest time in program history.
Alberti enters her fourth collegiate swimming season and her second as a Scarlet Knight after competing for Georgia Southern in her first two seasons, where she was a All-Sun Belt selection. Majoring in Physics, the Italian competed for RU last season in Freestyle and the medley relays.
