Bodmer, Gil Named 2026 Women's Soccer Captains

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer head coach Mike O'Neill has named Olivia Bodmer and Gabriela Gil as team captains for the Scarlet Knights in 2026.
The duo will lead the locker room for the second straight season, with both serving as captains on last year's squad. Additionally, Bodmer is a captain for the third straight season.
Bodmer heads into her fifth year as the most experienced player on the roster with 56 games under her belt and as one of the most accomplished goalkeepers in the Big Ten. She payed in 15 matches in 2025, making 14 starts in the net. Bodmer made 64 saves to eclipse 200 for her career (210) and saved 77.1% of shots faced, totaling five shutouts to being her career total to 21.
After missing the final eight matches in 2024 due to injury, Gil returned to be a constant presence in the RU lineup in 2025. Serving as a team captain, Gil started all 15 matches she appeared in, playing the full 90 minutes in the final two matches against Maryland (10/26) and Michigan (10/19). She registered two assists on the season, picking up helpers against Ohio State (10/16) and at Minnesota (9/18). For her career, she has played in and started 27 matches, totaling two goals and four assists.
Rutgers opens the 2026 campaign on Aug. 13 at Tennesse, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. on SECN+.
