Scarlet Knight Alumns to Compete at Upcoming Sixes Events

PISCATAWAY, N.J. ā As the 2028 Olympics approach and are set to feature lacrosse for the first time, a number of Scarlet Knights are competing with international teams in the Sixes format.
In the buildup to LA28, the next in a series of upcoming international events s the Pan-American Men's Lacrosse Sixes Championship, set for next week (Sept. 29 through Oct. 4) in Oshawa, Ontario, which serves as a continental qualifier for next fall's World Lacrosse Sixes Championship.
RU alumn Connor Kirst is on the Team USA roster for the event. Connor Kirst (a Scarlet Knight in 2021, where he was named Third Team All-American and First Team All-Big Ten) is one of just 10 players on the sixes roster that will compete at the event in Ontario.
Additionally, his brother and former RU goalkeeper Colin Kirst was named to the Team USA Training Camp squad that will compete ahead of this event. Colin Kirst (on RU in 2021 and 2022, where he was a two-time All-American and two-time First Team All-Big Ten) is part of an additional group of 12 players that were invited to Buffalo for a training camp that starts this week before the team heads over the border for the Championships.
Team Australia will also have two former Scarlet Knights on its roster as it heads into the 2026 Asia-Pacific Lacrosse Championships. That event will take place on October 5-10. Midfielder Donnie Howard and attackman Mitch Baker are both on the 12-man Australia roster for the host nation. Donnie Howard was a short-stick defensive midfielder at RU in 2024 (14 games played, eight ground balls, five caused turnovers). Mitch Baker arrived at RU as a graduate student in 2022, having already played with Team Australia extensively, and spent the year at RU as an attackman.
Team Italy recently announced its large player pool for Men's Sixes. Two former Scarlet Knights were listed among the players ā Mitch Bartolo and Christian Trasolini. Mitch Bartolo spent the 2022 season at RU, a starter with 45 goals and 17 assists and an All-ECAC and USILA Scholar All-American for the Final Four squad. Christian Trasolini had an accomplished career at RU from 2014 to 2018, appearing in 58 games, starting 51, and reaching 96 career points (74 goals, 22 assists). Ā
