2021 All-Big South Second Team

2022-23 | Senior (Rutgers)

• Appeared in all 32 games and made 13 starts 
• Averaged 7.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game 
• Reached the 500-point and 500-rebound milestones in back-to-back outings against Michigan State (Jan. 22) and Penn State (Jan. 26) 
• Had a standout game against the Nittany Lions, setting season bests with 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists 
• Reached 10+ points eight times and led the team in scoring on three occasions 
• Ranked second on the team with 62 assists, leading the team in the stat in seven games and securing 5+ helpers twice 

PRIOR TO RUTGERS
Kai Carter will have two years of eligibility remaining following three seasons at UNC Asheville, where she was an All-Big South selection. Carter has scored 855 points, including an average of 14.8 per contest during her junior season in 2021-22. The Atlanta, Georgia native is also active on the glass, averaging 5.3 rebounds per game and racking up 12 double-doubles as a Bulldog.
 
Carter led UNC Asheville in 2021-22 in three-pointers made (55) and rebounds (200) while ranking second in scoring (473 points). With a penchant for clutch performances, Carter posted some of her highest-scoring outputs in the Big South Tournament, scoring 23 in a 2022 quarterfinal win and 24 in the 2021 quarterfinals.

2021-22 | Junior (UNC Ashville)

• layed in all 32 games for Asheville and started 31 of those contests
• Led the Bulldogs in 3-pointers made (55) and rebounds (200), while also ranking second for the Bulldogs in scoring (473 points) and 3-point shooting percentage (28.9)
• Posted seven double-doubles as a junior
• Scored 20 or more points nine times, including a season-high 27 points at Hampton in mid-February
• Another key performance from Carter came in the quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament vs. USC Upstate where she scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds to help Asheville advance to the semifinal round
• Grabbed season-high 14 rebounds on January 18 vs. High Point
• Knocked down a season-high five 3-points at Winthrop on January 29. 

2020-21 | Sophomore (UNC Ashville)

• Played in and started all 25 games for Asheville
• Set new personal season-bests in every statistical category
• Finished her sophomore season with 335 points scored, 49 3-pointers made, 193 rebounds, 28 assists, and 25 steals
• Led the Bulldogs in both 3-pointers made and rebounding
• Had five double-doubles on the season, including a 24-point, 10-rebound effort in the quarterfinal round of the Big South Tournament at Longwood
• Had a pair of 20-plus point scoring outings, including a season-high 26 points vs. Longwood on December 31
• Grabbed 10 or more rebounds in seven different games, including a season-high 14 twice
• Knocked down multiple 3-pointers in a game 14 times in 2020-21
• Knocked down a season-high six threes in Asheville's win over Longwood on December 31
• Following the season, Carter was recognized for her play and landed a spot on the All-Big South Second Team

2019-20| Freshman (UNC Ashville)

• Appeared in 23 games for the Bulldogs during her freshman season in 2019-20
• Made her collegiate debut on November 13 against Lenoir-Rhyne
• Overall, Carter logged 157 minutes of playing time, scored 47 points, and grabbed 29 rebounds as a freshman
• Scored 10 or more points twice in 2019-20
• Netted a season-high 11 points against Montreat on December 2
• Also scored 10 points against Charleston Southern on January 14

Prior to UNC Asheville - Carter joined UNC Asheville out of Paideia High School in Atlanta, Ga ... Carter averaged 18 points per game, eight rebounds per contest and two assists per game in high school ... During her junior year she joined the exclusive 1,500-point club after scoring over 500 points as a junior ... Named to the All-State and All-Region Teams ... She was also tabbed to the All-Tournament Team four times at the Christmas Tournament at Westminster High School ... A four-year starter at Paideia, Carter was named team captain her senior year.
