Will Otto

Will Otto is an assistant strength and conditioning coach with Rutgers Athletics. Otto designs and implements year-round strength and conditioning programs for all aspects of Track and Field. 

Prior to Rutgers, Otto was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at California State University-Fullerton for seven years. During his time at CSUF, he had the opportunity to work with all 13 teams in either a primary or assistant role, with a main focus on men and women’s soccer, men’s basketball, men's and women’s track and field, and women’s tennis. Otto served as the internship director for the weight room, providing up-and-coming strength and conditioning professionals with hands-on experience. Otto is a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also part of the USA Weightlifting organization as an Advanced Sport Performance Coach. A graduate of the University of Nebraska, Otto played football for the Cornhuskers during the 2005 and 2006 seasons as a fullback. He went on to pursue a master’s degree in kinesiology with an emphasis on strength and conditioning from California State University-Fullerton studying under Dr. Lee Brown and Dr. Jared Coburn. Otto’s thesis was accepted by the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research - “Effects of weightlifting vs. kettlebell training on vertical jump, strength, and body composition.”
