TAMPA, FLA. (October 4, 2013) - The Rutgers volleyball team (4-13, 0-3 AAC) dropped a straight-set decision (12-25, 17-25, 11-25) to the USF Bulls (7-9, 1-1 AAC) in American Athletic Conference action Friday evening at the USF Corral in Tampa, Fla.

Sophomore defensive specialist Ali Schroeter (Bakersfield, Calif.) racked up a team-high 18 digs to lead Rutgers in the loss. Schroeter has now managed double-digit digs in all but one of RU's matches.

Sophomore middle blocker Mikaela Matthews (San Diego, Calif.) led the Scarlet Knights offensively with seven kills on 15 attempts to finish the match with a .267 hitting percentage. Second-year outside hitter Alex Lassa (Eagle, Colo.) contributed six kills and 14 digs, while classmate Anna Sudbury (Tomahawk, Wisc.) dished out 16 assists and added six digs.

The Bulls were led by Carissa Whalen's 10 kills.

The Scarlet Knights finished the match with 21 kills to the Bulls' 35. Both teams racked up 60 digs each. RU held USF to their lowest hitting percentage of the match in the second set (.188).

Rutgers returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 6 against UCF at 2 p.m. in Orlando, Fla.
