RU Volleyball Swept by UConn

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (November 15, 2013) - The Rutgers volleyball team was swept (19-25, 19-25, 20-25) by the visiting UConn Huskies in American Athletic Conference action Friday evening at the College Ave Gym. With the loss, RU falls to 4-24, 0-14, while UConn improves to 12-17, 3-11.

Senior defensive specialist Tracy Wright (Fair Lawn, N.J.) came up with a match-high 21 digs in the loss. The 21 digs marked a season-high for Wright and was also the 13th time she has recorded double-digit digs on the season.

Sophomore outside hitter Alex Lassa (Eagle, Colo.) led the hosts offensively with 11 kills and added five digs. Junior middle blocker Rachel Andreassian (Fredericksburg, Texas) contributed seven kills on 18 attacks to record a .333 hitting percentage.

Sophomore setter Anna Sudbury (Tomahawk, Wis.) dished out a team-high 24 digs and added three blocks and three digs, while second-year DS Ronnie Komisarek (San Mateo, Calif.) picked up 11 digs.

Rutgers matched the Huskies point-for-point in every frame, but runs midway through each set put the Scarlet Knights in deficits they would be unable to battle back from. The third set alone featured 13 tied scores, with the last occurring at 19-19, before the visitors outscored RU by a 6-1 margin for the win.

The Scarlet Knights return to the confines of "The Barn" on Friday, Nov. 22 for a 7 p.m. match against Temple.
