PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers men's lacrosse team will conclude its fall season this weekend with a scrimmage Saturday against UMass. The scrimmage will take place on the F3 Turf Field at noon.
The Scarlet Knights and Minutemen will face off in fall scrimmage action for the fifth straight year. For the second consecutive year, the two squads will partner with the Vs. Cancer Foundation, and will help raise money to support national childhood cancer research. You can view Rutgers team fundraising page and make a donation here. Last fall the Scarlet Knights raised $5,521 to benefit the cause.
Rutgers is led by returning team captain Scott Bieda. The senior was RU's leading scorer last season with 30 goals and 28 assists for 58 points. Bieda was a First Team All-Big Ten selection, while returner Zack Sikora, who had six goals and collected 48 ground balls as a long-stick midfielder, was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection. The scrimmage will also be the first game action for a newly announced 12 member freshman class.
The team will play in the second season of Big Ten lacrosse this spring. Rutgers' inaugural campaign was highlighted by a 17-10 victory over No. 10 Ohio State to conclude the season.
