Aug 17 | Women's Lacrosse
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) selected the Rutgers women's lacrosse team as one of 83 NCAA Division I programs to be named a 2015 Academic Honor Squad. The recognition is the ninth in a row for the program dating back to 2007.
Every school with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher earned Academic Squad honors.
"I continue to be proud of our ability to uphold the strong academic tradition that is Rutgers women's lacrosse," said 14th-year head coach Laura Brand-Sias. "Our players and staff work extremely hard to maintain academic excellence and this honor is a great example of that."
Academics have long been a focal point for Rutgers women's lacrosse. This past spring, the NCAA recognized the program for its continued achievement of academic excellence. RU has earned an Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition Award in each of the last four seasons dating back to the 2011-12 academic year. In the latest GSR reports released last fall, Rutgers received an excellent score of a 97.
Additionally, women's lacrosse placed 13 student-athletes on the Spring 2015 Academic All-Big Ten list.
