
Three Scarlet Knights Earn All-Region Recognition

Murphy, Swaby, Ali named to United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region Teams
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Three Scarlet Knights of Rutgers women's soccer were named to United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I All-Midwest Region Teams, including redshirt junior Casey Murphy (First Team), sophomore defender Chantelle Swaby (First Team) and freshman forward Amirah Ali (Second Team).

All-Midwest Region First Team

Murphy, who was just announced as a 2017 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalists, adds another accolade to her growing list. The 2017 Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team All-Big Ten selection led the Big Ten and ranked second in the nation in GAA (0.267), save percentage (.924) and total shutouts (16). Overall, she stopped 73 of 79 opponent shots on goal this season, allowing just six goals in 21 starts.
The Bridgewater, New Jersey, native became Rutgers all-time career shutouts leader this season with 45 total clean sheets across just three years of action. The goalkeeper's career total is a mark that ranks second in Big Ten history and fourth in the NCAA among active career leaders.

All-Midwest Region First Team

Swaby, an All-Big Ten Second Team selection, earns the first all-region recognition of her career. The center back solidified a back line that helped Rutgers hold opponents to a program record 924:07 straight scoreless-minutes to open the season, tying the program record of nine consecutive shutouts along the way.
The center back was a force in the top defensive performance in the nation, as Rutgers ranked first in team categories in GAA and save percentage, and second in shutout percentage. Overall, the Scarlet Knights remained unbeaten across seven ranked matchups by not allowing a single goal in those contests with a record of 3-0-4.
Amirah Ali | Fr. | Forward
All-Midwest Region Second Team

Ali, the 2017 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, continues to add to her resume with all-region accolades. The Voorhees, New Jersey, native tied for the team lead with six goals and five assists in her first season as a Scarlet Knight.
The rookie made numerous statements for Rutgers, including the game winner in the 1-0 overtime win with No. 12 Ohio State. Additionally, she contributed three assists in conference play, including helpers on the game winner in overtime at Illinois and the tying goal in the draw at Nebraska. Ali also collected All-Big Ten Third Team and Big Ten All-Freshman honors.
