Alumni Feature: Alicia Turner

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer has a long list of letterwinners that have helped build up the foundation of the program through the years. The Scarlet Knights often check in on where their alumni are today.
Alicia Biddle, formerly Turner, competed for the Scarlet Knights from 1993-96. Following her years "On the Banks," Biddle has gone on to become an Assistant Principal at an Alternative School in the Willingboro School district.
While she will enter her 17th year in education, Biddle still uses her experiences with Rutgers women's soccer to guide her through everyday life in her career and with her family.
"Soccer at Rutgers prepared me for work life because it taught me about teamwork and finding the best in people to help accomplish goals in the workplace," said Biddle. "It also taught me how to be a leader and be organized to get things done. I still live my life by a schedule as I did in college. It helps me tremendously with my kids and everyday life."
Biddle and husband, Anthony, are the proud parents of three kids, Nyree aged 18, Anthony aged three and Aspen aged a year and a half. While her family keeps her busy, Biddle still finds time to support the Scarlet Knights.
"I am very proud to be a Scarlet Knight and I follow all info on Instagram and Facebook. I watch the girls every chance I get," said Biddle
Watching the current team, Biddle reflects on what she loves about this program and her time at Rutgers.
"What I loved most about soccer at Rutgers in the team comradery and all the traveling which made school fun," said Biddle. "One of my many great memories is when some of my teammates and I put together an intermural basketball team and won the championship!
"On the field my favorite time was beating Penn State at home senior year. We had plenty of good times at Yurcak Field!"
A 1998 graduate with a B.A. in communication and Africana studies, Biddle is pleased to see how much the program has grown and how Rutgers University has changed for the students here today. Although many changes have been made on campus and the team has seen rapid progress, Biddle still has a strong connection with the Scarlet Knights and is truly "Forever Rutgers."
"'Forever Rutgers' means to me that I will always be a proud Rutgers alum and will always be watching the University and program grow," said Biddle.
While her Rutgers days may be behind her, Biddle has not lost her passion for the sport and the active life of being a Division I student-athlete.
"I play soccer occasionally these days. I am also an Insanity Live instructor and continue to stay fit at my gym and by running races and triathlons," said Biddle.
With her focus on remaining fit and active, Biddle has some advice for the current Scarlet Knights.
"From gaining more experience with fitness I have learned that choice is so important because I choose as an adult to be as fit as I can and really treat my body as my temple," said Biddle "I choose to put in the work at the gym.
"You can choose as a player to whine about it or change it. At the end of the day choice comes down to you! Some people are willing to dig deeper than others so make your choice wisely on how your four years of playing will go because they are your choices to make!"
