Women’s Soccer Ranked No. 21

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer (9-1-4, 5-0-2) is tabbed No. 21 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, released on Tuesday.
Over the weekend, the Scarlet Knights extended its conference unbeaten streak to 5-0-2, propelling Rutgers to first place in the Big Ten. RU picked up a 1-0 overtime victory over then-No. 14 Northwestern on Thursday and a 1-0 overtime win against Illinois on Sunday.
Rutgers has competed in eight consecutive overtime contests, picking up a program-high five OT victories across the span. The stretch includes a 3-0-1 record at Yurcak Field and 2-0-1 mark on the road.
The Scarlet Knights opened the season with four straight victories before suffering its first loss. From there, Rutgers has gone on to produce a 5-0-3 mark. Overall, the Scarlet Knights own five shutouts on the season.
Pacing the lineup is sophomore forward Amirah Ali with a Big Ten-leading 10 goals. Ali is ranked fifth in the nation with five game winners on the year, including four golden goals.
Junior midfielder Nicole Whitley ranks 15th in the NCAA and leads the league with seven assists on the year. Freshman goalkeeper Meagan McClelland ranks second in the conference with a 0.65 in goals against average.
The Scarlet Knights opened the season ranked No. 24 and have consistently received votes throughout the year.
Up next, Rutgers begins a three-game road swing with stops at Ohio State (Oct. 12), Penn State (Oct. 14), and Michigan State (Oct. 18).
