BACK AT HOME
The Scarlet Knights have a pair of Big Ten games on the docket this week. First RU will host Maryland on Wednesday night at Yurcak Field at 7 p.m. and then travel to Ohio State on Sunday for matchup with the Buckeyes on BTN at noon.
Rutgers had only one game last week as the midweek nonconference contest with Marist was canceled due to weather. The game will not be made up.
The Scarlet Knights traveled to No. 5 Michigan State last Friday in a tight battle with the Spartans, who entering the game was the Big Ten's top ranked offense.
RU was able to keep the Spartans off the scoreboard until midway thru the second half. Michigan State's Ryan Sierakowski scored both goals converting a PK following a handball off a scramble inside the box in the 64th minute and later in the 80th minute hitting the left post and in.
Playing down by a pair of goals, Scarlet Knight leading scorer
Jordan Hall made it a 2-1 game with 10 minutes to go.Â
Then with two minutes remaining in the game, it looked as if
Miles Hackett had headed in an equalizer at the far post, but the ball had crossed the end line out of bounds prior to the cross by
Bryce Washington.
While it was Hall, the junior forward, putting away his fourth goal of the season for the Scarlet Knights, redshirt junior forward
Brian Hawkins led RU with five of its 10 shots on the night.Â

LAST TIME AGAINST MARYLAND
Facing its fourth nationally-ranked program in six games, the Rutgers men's soccer team and No. 3 Maryland fought to scoreless halftime before the Scarlet Knights dropped a 3-0 decision to the Terps at Ludwig Field on Sept. 12.

Wild broke open the scoreless match in the 52nd minute of play as Jake Rozhansky fed Eryk Williamson into the right side of the box. Williamson sent the cross five yards out from the center of the Scarlet Knight net setting up Wild for the 1-0 Terp lead.
Maryland went ahead 2-0 in the 60th minute. Rozhansky dribbled along the right side of the 18 to once again set up a Wild tally. Wild managed to slip the ball inside the far post.
The Terps wrapped up scoring in the 85th minute with Eli Grognale firing from 20 yards out into the lower left corner.
Rutgers' backline and goalkeeper
Rafael Pereira combined for seven saves in the loss. Â
Zeno Mazzucato swooped in for a defensive save at the far post in the latter part of the first half after Rozhansky chipped the ball past Pereira to keep the game scoreless heading into the half.
