Men's Soccer Readies For Wisconsin on Friday

Scarlet Knights & Badgers Kickoff at 7 p.m. at Yurcak Field

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers men's soccer team is back in Big Ten action on Friday night hosting the Wisconsin Badgers at 7 p.m. at Yurcak Field.

RUTGERS QUICK KICKS
  • The Rutgers men's soccer team hosts Wisconsin on Friday night in their final home game of October before hitting the road for their next four contests.
  • The Scarlet Knights are coming off a 1-0 setback to Ohio State on Sunday. Despite outshooting the Buckeyes 12-10 in the matchup, OSU netted the lone goal of the game in the 72nd minute off a corner. Rutgers' 12 shots, including six on goal, were the most for the Scarlet Knights in Big Ten play thus far.
  • Sophomore Pablo Ávila led RU with four shots against Ohio State, while freshman Jackson Temple had two shots, both on frame. The Scarlet Knights duo lead the Rutgers attach with each having four goals on the year and having scored eight of the Scarlet Knights' 13 goals.
  • Ávila and Temple along with Bardia Kimiavi (Northwestern), Devyn Etling (Ohio State), Liam Butts (Penn State) and Joshua Penn (Indiana) each have two game-winning goals in 2019 and are tied for the lead in the Big Ten in game-winning goals.
  • In goal, freshman Oren Asher is third in the conference in total saves (41) and  save percentage (.759).
SCOUTING WISCONSIN
  • The Badgers enter Yurcak Field at 2-8-1 overall and 0-2-1 in Big Ten play.
  • Wisconsin is winless in its last seven contests most recently suffering a 1-0 nonconference loss to Milwaukee and a 2-1 loss to Michigan State last week.
  • Among the Badgers' wins was a 2-1 victory over Lehigh on Sept. 8, a team RU will face in its nonconference finale on Oct. 29.
  • Five different Badgers have recorded a goal this season with Robin Olofsoon and Bobby Harris each recording game-winners.
  • Dean Cowdroy has been in goal for Wisconsin playing every minute of every contest to date and making 43 total saves. He is holding down a .768 save percentage and 1.27 goals against average.
