Five Scarlet Knights named All-Region
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Five Scarlet Knights of Rutgers women's soccer were named All-Region by United Soccer Coaches. Junior forward Amirah Ali collected All-American First Team honors by the organization.
Senior back Amanda Visco and Ali garnered First Team All-Region nods, while senior Taylor Aylmer, junior forward Nneka Moneme, and sophomore Meagan McClelland claimed Second Team honors. Five Scarlet Knights marks the most All-Region selections in program history.
Amirah Ali | All-American First Team | All-Region First Team
Ali, a three-time All-Big Ten recipient, earned her second straight All-America recognition having earned Second Team honors last season. The 2019 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist posted nine goals and four assists, including four game winners. Three of Ali's game winners came in overtime, as she is the program-leader with eight career golden goals. The All-American and two time all-region forward owns 62 career points (25g, 12a), ranking eight on the Rutgers career records list.
Amanda Visco | All-Region First Team
Visco anchored a defense that posted 11 shutouts and a 0.58 GAA on the year to garner First Team Alll-Region and Second Team All-Big Ten honors. The captain led the back line in holding opponents to three shots or less on goal in 10 matches, including holing three Big Ten teams to just six shots or less overall in the game. The Manalapan, New Jersey, native also netted two goals, one of which was the game winner in the victory at Iowa. Visco earned her first All-Region nod and second All-Big Ten accolade of her career, having been named to the All-Freshman Team her rookie year.
Taylor Aylmer | All-Region Second Team
Aylmer, a two-time captain of the program, registered a team-high nine assists on the year, claiming Third Team honors. The Garnerville, New York, native assisted numerous game winners on the season, including the 1-0 OT win against Indiana, the 1-0 win at Iowa and the 3-2 win at then-No. 16 Michigan. Her efforts helped lead RU match its most regular season wins and conference victories in program history. She earned All-Big Ten Third Team recognition and the Sportsmanship Award honoree for Rutgers this year as well.
Meagan McClelland | All-Region Second Team
McClelland, the 2018 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and 2019 All-Big Ten Second Team selection, registered 11 shutouts and a 0.59 GAA in 18 starts. The Bridgewater, New Jersey, native stopped 59 of 70 shots on goal, notching a save percentage of 0.843. Her 11 shutouts are tied for fourth on the Rutgers single-season charts. McClelland owns 19 clean sheets across her first two seasons as a Scarlet Knight. McClelland ranks third in the nation in shutouts and 24th in GAA. The goalkeepers' Second Team recognition comes after earning Third Team All-Region, Third Team All-Big Ten and All-Freshman Team honors a year ago.
Nneka Moneme | All-Region Second Team
Moneme led the team this season with 11 goals and six game winners en route to Second Team All-Big Ten status. The Union, New Jersey, native scored four straight game winners, including two golden goals, to close out the regular season for the Scarlet Knights. Moneme recorded two multi-goal games including a hat trick victory against Fordham and a two-goal performance in the win over then-No. 16 Michigan. The back-to-back Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week to end the regular season, picked up her first All-Big Ten and All-Region honors.
