Reanda Richards Named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week

Freshman Scarlet Knight Currently Owns Nation’s Fastest 400m Hurdle Time

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – After capturing the top time in the nation in the 400m hurdles at last weekend's Florida Relays, Rutgers women's track & field freshman Reanda Richards has been named the Big Ten Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

Richards raced to the nation's, East Region's and Big Ten's top time in the 400m hurdles in a time of 57.21. Her time was also the second fastest time in Rutgers history with only Lori McCauley capturing a faster time in the event back in 1982 at the National Sports Festival with a then-American record of 55.69.

The Roseland, New Jersey native in her first season at Rutgers arrived "On The Banks" after capturing the New Balance High School National Outdoor Championship in the event while a senior at West Essex High School.
