Women's T/F Announces 2019-20 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Rutgers women's track and field team released both its 2019-20 indoor and outdoor schedules on Friday.
 
INDOOR SCHEDULE
The indoor season gets underway with the TCNJ Lions Indoor Invitational hosted at the Armory in the Bronx, New York on Jan. 11.
 
The month of January will continue with trips to Vanderbilt on Jan. 17-18 and to Boston University for the Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 24-25. The Scarlet Knights will then head to the Metropolitan Indoor Championships, which will take place at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York.
 
Come February, the team will first head to South Bend, Indiana for the Meyer Invitational on Feb. 7-8. The Scarlet Knights will split up the following week between the Valentine's Invitational hosted by Boston University on Feb. 14-15 and the Tyson Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Feb. 14-15.
 
Rutgers will then make its way to Geneva, Ohio at the end of February for the Big Ten Championships held Feb. 28-29. The NCAA Indoor Championships will be held on March 13-14 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
 
OUTDOOR SCHEDULE
The outdoor season kicks off with two meets in March. The Scarlet Knights will head to Miami, Florida for the Hurricane Invitational on March 20-21 and follow with the Raleigh Relays on March 27-28 in North Carolina.
 
The women's track and field team will then see a busy month having six meets in April. The team will be divided the first weekend between the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida on April 2-4 and the Sam Howell Invitational on April 4, hosted by Princeton University. On April 10-11, the Scarlet Knights will host the Metropolitan Championships at the Bauer Track and Field. The team will then separate again, with some of the team heading down to Georgia for the Georgia Tech Invitational on April 17-18, while others will head to the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton University.
 
The month winds down with the prestigious Penn Relays held April 23-25 at Franklin Field.
 
The Scarlet Knights will start May off with the Don Weber Kentucky Classic on May 2 in Lexington before heading to the Big Ten Championships hosted by the University of Wisconsin on May 15-17.
 
The NCAA East Regional will take place May 28-30 in Lexington, Kentucky followed by the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Mike Meyers Stadium in Austin, Texas on Jun. 10-13.

 
2018-19 RECAP

Last season indoor, RU placed first overall at the Metropolitan Championships with Courteney Campbell taking first in the high jump and Olympia Martin placing first in the 5000m and with the distance medley relay team along with fellow teammates Gabriela Sanchez and Kiera Nealon. At the ECAC Championships, returning Scarlet Knight Rhonda Rogombe took first in the high jump while Reanda Richard captured a runner-up performance in the 500m.

The outdoor season featured Big Ten Freshman and Athlete of the Year Reanda Richard racing to a fourth place performance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 400m hurdles. Altogether, Richards collected six outdoor titles in the event including top finishes at the NCAA East Regional and Big Ten Championships. Including Richards, the Scarlet Knights had five Scarlet Knights qualify for the NCAA Regionals including returnees Courteney Campbell and Rhonda Rogombe (high jump) and Kathryn Campbell (javelin). For Rogombe, it was her third-straight appearance at the regional. At the Big Ten Championships, Richards captured gold in the 400m hurdles, Campbell picked up silver in the high jump and Campell threw to a sixth place podium finish with the fifth best result in Rutgers history in the javelin
