Men's Soccer Meets Manhattan on Saturday

Scarlet Knights & Jaspers Kickoff at 7 p.m. at Yurcak Field
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers men's soccer team is back in action on Saturday hosting Manhattan at Yurcak Field at 7 p.m.
| RUTGERS QUICK KICKS |
- The Rutgers men's soccer team was triumphant it its 2019 Yurcak Field debut on Tuesday with a 3-2 victory over Binghamton to improve to 4-0 on the year.
- Just prior to kickoff against the Bearcats on Tuesday, the United Soccer Coaches Poll was released with Rutgers receiving votes after its best start since 1996.
- The Scarlet Knights' four-game win streak is the longest since winning seven-straight in 2015.
- The victory improved Rutgers to 38-30-10 all-time in home openers and marked the first home opening win since 2015.
- All five goals of Tuesday's match were scored in the first half with sophomore Pablo Ávila putting away the game-winner with one second remaining in the first half.
- Also with goals for the Scarlet Knights was junior Vincent Borden, who opened up scoring two minutes into the contest, as well as the second goal of the season for freshman Jackson Temple.
- Freshman goalkeeper Oren Asher picked up a career-high seven saves versus the Bearcats. He currently holds a .850 save percentage having made 17 total stops on the year.
| SCOUTING MANHATTAN |
- Manhattan makes its way to Yurcak Field at 0-2 following a 1-0 season-opening loss at Lehigh and a 3-0 setback at No. 22 St. John's last Friday.
- The Jaspers open up 2019 with six-straight road games.
- Last season, Manhattan compiled a 12-6 overall record and 5-5 mark in the MAAC setting program records for wins (12), nonconference winning percentage (.875) and shutouts (9).
- The Jaspers return nine of its 11 starters from 2018 including senior defender Adrien Awana and junior forward Berti Fourrier who were named Preseason All-MAAC
- Senior goalkeeper Marcellin Gohier is tied for the Manhattan shutout record with 12 career clean sheets and is a two-time MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year allowing only 12 goals over the course of 18 games last season.
- The Jaspers also welcome back junior forward Brandon Joseph-Buadi who collected 13 points (5G, 3A) in 2018.
