Tennis Set for Pair of Home Matches

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers tennis opens its Big Ten campaign this Friday, Feb. 14 with a home match against Maryland at 12:30 p.m. The Scarlet Knights then return to action at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 when they host UPenn. Both matches are scheduled to take place at the East Brunswick Racquet Club.

RUTGERS QUICK HITS

In their last outing, the Scarlet Knights competed in their first ever doubleheader and added two more wins to their season record, advancing to 5-1.
Rutgers is currently on a three-match win streak with two of those wins being sweeps against URI and Binghamton.
After allowing only one point to be scored on her by NJIT in singles during the doubleheader, sophomore Sydney Kaplan's record mirrors that of the team at 5-1.

SCOUTING MARYLAND

The Terrapins enter the match 5-3 coming off of a 6-1 loss to Oregon.
Freshman Ayana Akli remains undefeated in singles play and brings only one doubles loss with her.
Also remaining undefeated in singles play is junior Eva Alexandrova.

SCOUTING UPENN

Most recently, UPenn attended the ECAC Championship and returned home with a 3-4 record, including a win over Dartmouth and losses to Yale and Harvard.
As of Feb. 5, sophomore Iuliia Bryzgalova, stood at number 11 in the ITA national rankings with an undefeated singles record.
