Swimming & Diving To Compete at Princeton's Big Al Invite

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women's swimming & diving team is back in the water for the three-day Big Al Invitational hosted by Princeton at DeNuzio Pool.
The Scarlet Knights will be joined by the host Tigers along with Denver, Utah, and George Washington along with TCU in diving.

| LAST TIME IN THE WATER |
- Rutgers was in action previously at DeNunzio Pool for the annual Battle For The Cannon Trophy with Princeton.
- The diving corps went 1-2-3 on 1M and 3M with Abigail Knapton taking the top spot in both events with 295.43 on 1M and 332.03 on 3M. Savana Trueb captured a career-best on 3M scoring a 325.43.
- Sofia Lobova captured two victories for the Scarlet Knights en route to earning Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors with top times in the 50 free and 100 free and a runner-up performance with the 200 free relay.
- Alice Scarabelli continued her winning ways in the 100 back and took second in the 200 back.
| FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK |
- Sofia Lobova was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the week of Nov. 17 following RU's meet at Princeton.
- Lobova earned a pair of victories, picked up season bests in all four of her events, captured three times then among the top seven in the conference and put her name among the top 10 fastest performances.
- The freshman won the 50 free in 22.97 marking the fifth-fastest time at Rutgers and the seventh-fastest time in the Big Ten. The Scarlet Knight also won the 100 free clocking in at 49.95 in the sixth-fastest time in the conference and the fourth-fastest time in the RU record book. Lobova also helped the 200 free relay to a runner-up finish swimming the opening leg. It was the fastest time to date by the Scarlet Knights in the event and currently the third fastest in the Big Ten. Additionally, she logged a sixth-place performance in the 100 fly with a PR of 56.37.
- Lobova is the first Rutgers swimmer to earn rookie weekly honors since 2019 and is the third Scarlet Knight overall to pick up the award joining Sofia Chichaikina and Addison Walkowiak.
| DIVER OF THE WEEK |
- Abigail Knapton has won two Big Ten Diver of the Week awards this season.
- She picked up her first honor the week of Oct. 13 scoring 309.53 on 1M and 333.45 on 3M breaking both the previous Crandall Pool benchmarks by 10.95 points in the season-opening victory at Army.
- Knapton earned her second distinction this week after winning three events on Oct. 29 & 30 on the road at Purdue and IUPUI. In RU's first Big Ten competition of the year, Knapton won 3M scoring 329.85 and was 1.35 points short of also taking home the 1M title with a runner-up performance of 285.15 In the Scarlet Knights' win at IUPUI the next day, Knapton won 1M scoring 303.83 and 3M scoring a season-best 344.33, which is also the third-best in Rutgers history and fourth-best score in the Big Ten.
- Knapton is the first Scarlet Knight diver to earn the honor since Addison Walkowiak in 2017.
| OPEN WATER |
- Cat Salladin took seventh at the women's CSCAA Open Water National Championship on Sept. 17. A former member of the USA World Championship Open Water Team, Salladin was one of 70 women's distance swimmers competing in the 5K course and one of four members of the Big Ten to finish among the top 10.
- The Scarlet Knight completed the course in 1:04.45.70 and was 12.10 off reaching the top five and earning an invite to the USA Swimming 5K Open Water Championships.

- Rutgers women's swimming and diving has earned 15-straight College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-American Team Awards.
- The Scarlet Knights boasted a 3.73 GPA last spring marking the 18th-best GPA among Division I women's swimming programs and second-best among Big Ten teams.
- Last season, the Scarlet Knights also boasted 17 Big Ten All-Academic honorees.
