PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers baseball's
Brent Teller signed a professional contract with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League on Monday. The right-handed pitcher was part of the Scarlet Knights' starting rotation in 2021 and ended his collegiate career with over 200 strikeouts.

Steve Owens said. "His experience and maturity showed itself with his daily work and he had some terrific performances. We are very grateful that he chose Rutgers to pitch his final season and we are equally excited that he has earned a chance to pitch professionally. Appearing in 11 games with 10 starts on the mound, Teller's best outing came at then-No. 19 Nebraska to help complete the sweep and earn Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. He worked seven shutout innings with eight strikeouts and only two hits allowed. That followed beating then-No. 17 Michigan in the rubber game with eight strikeouts over 7.1 innings in carrying a no-hitter into the seventh.

Overall, the Miami native totaled 43 strikeouts in 53.1 innings with seven starts permitting three or fewer earned runs. Teller held opponents to a .249 batting average against and .185 with two outs, inducing a team-best seven double plays.

Teller ended his college career appearing in 66 games with 45 starts, logging 275.1 innings, 226 strikeouts and 16 wins.

Teller becomes the second member of the RU starting rotation to sign a professional contract, joining
Harry Rutkowski (Toronto Blue Jays).
