#16 Women's Soccer Wraps Up Nonconference Play with a 4-0 Shutout of Drexel
Sep 16 | Women's Soccer
"We responded well to what happened last weekend and we all showed up for each other. We had the grit that we want to win. We had a chip on our shoulder and we really just want to prove that what happened was in the past. We're bouncing back and we're ready to make a statement in Big Ten play. We can't wait," said senior captain Meagan McClelland.
"It's amazing to give Coach his 100th win. I'm just happy to be here when it happened. He does so much for us, he wants the best for us. It's the least that we can do for him," said senior captain Amirah Ali.
Senior midfielder Frankie Tagliaferri posted two goals, while senior forward Amirah Ali recorded a goal and two assists. Sophomore forward Emily Sapienza notched a goal of her own. Sophomore forward Sam Kroeger and sophomore midfielder Sara Brocious contributed assists in the win.
Senior goalkeeper Meagan McClelland recorded five saves to give RU its fourth clean sheet of the season. The team held the Dragons to just five shots on goal. Dating back to 2019, RU has held 35 straight opponents to single-digit shots on goal.
