Madison Murtagh Logs Another Top 1000 Free Time As Swimming & Diving Wins Nine Events at Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Rutgers swimming and diving took nine of 16 events against defending Ivy League Champion Harvard on Friday night at Blodgett Pool. The host Crimson won the meet, 169-131.
Rutgers picked up victories in the 500 & 1000 free, 100 & 200 breast, 100 back, 200 fly, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay and on 1-meter.
Graduate student Madison Murtagh moved further up the Rutgers top times list in the 1000 free as she became the fourth Scarlet Knight in history to clock in under the 10-minute mark.

Graduate student Madison Murtagh moved further up the Rutgers top times list in the 1000 free as she became the fourth Scarlet Knight in history to clock in under the 10-minute mark.
| DISTANCE |
- Madison Murtagh moved further up the all-time 1000 free list with her first-place finish. She dropped 7.21 seconds off last week's time against Purdue to hit the wall in 9:59.21 and climb to fourth all-time in the event at Rutgers. She won the event with a 23.24-second margin of victory.
- Murtagh earned her second win of the night in the 500 free with a 7.21-second gap between her and second place. She logged a time of 4:55.34.
| RELAYS |
- Rutgers took both relay titles.
- The A team of Alice Scarabelli, Rachel Kimmel, Sofia Maksimova and Sofia Chichaikina opened the event edging out the hosts by .03 seconds to take the 200 medley relay in 1:42.53.
- The night closed with the 400 free relay of Chichaikina, Scarabelli, Julia Bartoszewicz and Martyna Piesko collecting a first-place time of 3:25.91.
| SPRINTS |
- Rachel Kimmel collected her third 100 and 200 breast titles of the year. In the 100 breast Kimmel had the top time of 1:02.94 while junior Tina Celik posted a third-place performance in the event clocking in at 1:03.87. In the 200, Kimmel won the event in 2:16.55. The Scarlet Knight graduate student would also take third in the 200 IM in 2:06.24.
- Viktoriia Kostromina earned her first Scarlet Knight individual event win in the 200 fly clocking in with a season-best 2:02.32. Fellow freshman Ellie Schinsky placed third coming in at 2:06.89. Schinsky also raced to a time of 56.81 in the 100 fly for another third-place showing.
- Rutgers went 1-2 in the 100 back with graduate student Alice Scarabelli leading the way in a time of 55.30 with Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week Martyna Piesko .24 seconds behind. Piesko was also the runner-up in the 200 back touching the wall in 2:00.24.
- Scarabelli was runner-up in the 100 free in 51.53 with Julia Bartoszewicz following in third at 51.82.
- Sofia Chichaikina added a runner-up performance in the 50 free in 23.69, edged out of the top spot by .14 seconds, and a third-place showing in the 200 free posting 1:51.67.

- Sophomore Holly Prasanto had the top finish for the diving corps taking home the 1-meter title scoring 283.58. She also placed fourth on 3-meter.
