
Abigail Knapton & Savana Trueb Set For NCAA Championships

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Graduate student Abigail Knapton and junior Savana Trueb are set to compete on 1M, 3M and platform at the 2022 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships at McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Competition is set to begin on Thursday, March 17 with 1M beginning at 12:30 p.m. 3M is set for Friday, March 18 at 12:30 p.m. and platform gets underway on Saturday, March 19 at 12:15 p.m.
Knapton, who will be diving in her fifth NCAA Championship, is a four-time First Team-All American on platform and has also earned a First Team All-American honor on 3M and an NCAA Honorable Mention All-American distinction on 1M. At this year's NCAA Zone A Championship, the Omaha, Nebraska native won both the 3M and platform titles and placed fourth on 1M.
The Scarlet Knight reset the Rutgers platform record for a second time with a score of 331.75 in zone finals of platform. She also has captured the third-best score in school history on 1M (313.13) and second-best score on 3M (359.10).
Knapton has dove five times on platform and 3M at the NCAA Championships and will be making her second 1M appearance. Her previous performances on platform include fourth place in 2017, fifth place in 2019 and eighth place in both 2021 and 2018. On 3M, she placed eighth in 2021, 15th in 2019, 22nd in 2018 and 30th in 2017. Last season, Knapton claimed 19th on 1M.
Trueb will be appearing in her second NCAA Championships after taking 24th on 1M and 25th on platform in 2021. It will be her first NCAA Championship meet on 3M. At this year's NCAA Zone A Championship, she was the runner-up on platform, third on 1M and fourth on 3M.
The Colorado Springs, native had set a Rutgers record on platform at the Big Al Invite (295.60) in December before it was reset by Knapton at the Big Ten Championships and NCAA Zones. Trueb's name is also found in the
Rutgers record book with the fifth-best score on 1M (298.95) and sixth-best score on 3M (326.10).
ESPN3 will provide digital broadcast coverage for preliminary and finals sessions. ESPNU will also air a two-hour show at 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, for the women's championships.
