Games Friday vs. No. 15 Michigan and Sunday against Monmouth

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 6 Rutgers field hockey enters the weekend as the last undefeated team in Division I field hockey. Holding a record of 10-0 overall and a 2-0 start to Big Ten play, RU hosts No. No. 15 Michigan (Friday, 3 pm) and Monmouth (Sunday, 1 pm).

Both home games will be live streamed on B1G+. Dom Savino will have the play-by-play call for both games. He will be joined on color commentary by Eddie Kalegi on Friday, while Sunday's broadcast will feature former RU captain Kerrie Burns making her debut as an analyst. Burns started 91 games at Rutgers from 2017-2021 and was named the Tournament MVP as RU captured the 2021 Big Ten Tournament title.

About Rutgers
RU, ranked No. 6 in this week's updated RPI, has played just two of their six home games this season thus far, with this weekend representing one third of the overall home slate at Bauer Field. Rutgers is 21-6 at home over the past four seasons. The Scarlet Knights have gone past regulation in four of the past seven games, twice winning in double-overtime and twice winning in a penalty shootout.

In conference play thus far, Rutgers has claimed two ranked wins thus far. The Scarlet Knights started off with a 1-0, double overtime road win at No. 12 Penn State. Last Thursday, RU claimed a 3-2, penalty shootout win over No. 8 Maryland.

Rutgers has outscored opponents 26-9 on the season thus far and are one of only eight teams nationally allowing less than one goal per game. In the NCAA rankings, RU is third in save percentage, fifth in goals-against-average, sixth in defensive saves and eighth in shutouts per game. RU leads the Big Ten in save percentage and defensive saves and are third in goals-against-average and shutouts, while fourth in assists.

Guillermina Causarano has 22 points on the season. She is six points shy of entering Rutgers' top-10 list for points in a single season and fourth in the Big Ten in points and assists, along with fifth in goals.

Puck Winter has five defensive saves on the season, the second most in the nation. She is the first RU player with at least five defensive saves in a season since Emily Howarth had five in 2017. One more would tie Winter for sixth on the RU single-season list.

Rutgers in Big Ten Play
The Big Ten Conference has seven of its nine teams ranked this week: No. 2 Northwestern, No. 3 Iowa, No. 6 Rutgers, No. 7 Ohio State, No. 9 Maryland, No. 15 Michigan and No. 16 Penn State.

Rutgers is 31-44 (.413) in nine seasons of Big Ten Conference regular season play (not including the team's 3-8 conference tournament record). Since starting 7-26 in the first four years of acclimating to the league, RU is 25-18 over the past six seasons. Since the spring 2021 season, RU is 16-10 in Big Ten Conference regular season conference games, and 23-14 overall against Big Ten teams (including conference tournament games and games not counting towards the conference standings in the spring '21

Rutgers' last 22 games against Big Ten teams have featured 16 matchups against ranked teams. In those 22 games, RU is 14-8 with nine ranked wins. RU has 13 ranked wins over Big Ten teams since the resumption of field hockey in the spring 2021 season.

Since the start of 2018 (through the Maryland game), Rutgers has a 69-34 overall record (.669 winning percentage), 34 ranked wins, 11 top-10 wins and five top-five wins. In that time they've made two NCAA Tournaments, including a Big Ten Tournament championship and Elite Eight appearance.

About Michigan
Michigan enters the weekend at 6-5, and 1-3 in Big Ten play. That record includes all losses coming to ranked teams, including two ranked No. 1 at the time of the game, one ranked No. 3, and this week's No. 7 ranked team.

The Wolverines are led in goals (five) and points (11) by freshman Kelsey Reviello. In goal, Caylie McMahon has a 1.51 goals-against-average and .781 save percentage. Lora Clarke is third in the conference in assists.

Michigan holds a 12-2 lead in the all-time series against RU. Michigan won the first eight meetings in the series between 1992 and 2018 before Rutgers claimed its first win over the Wolverines with a 3-0 win at home in 2019. The Scarlet Knights also downed the No. 2 ranked Wolverines at Bauer Field in the championship game of the 2021 Big Ten Tournament. That historic moment for RU saw a 1-0 victory over the No. 2 Wolverines that was RU's highest ranked win in program history.

With a Win over Michigan

Rutgers would earn its sixth ranked win of the season, 11th ranked win over the past two seasons, the 24th ranked win over the past three seasons and the 28th ranked win since the spring 2021 season along with the 44^th ranked win for RU since Meredith Civico took over as the head coach.
Rutgers would be 6-0 against ranked teams this year and 24-13 against ranked teams in the last three years.
Rutgers would start Big Ten play 3-0 start for the first time since joining the conference.
Rutgers would be 15-7 against Big Ten teams over past three seasons.
Rutgers would reach 11 wins in a season for just the third time since 1998 (14: 2008, 19: 2021).
Rutgers would earn its third ever win over Michigan and be 2-1 in the last three meetings, and 3-0 in the last three matchups against Michigan in Piscataway.

About Monmouth

Monmouth enters the weekend at 7-3 overall following an overtime win Sunday over Temple. The Hawks enter the weekend second in the NCAA with a .822 team save percentage. Sofia Fouces is seventh nationally in goals and points per game, while goalkeeper Jessie Eiselin is third in the NCAA with a .819 save percentage and 13^th with 5.90 saves per game.

Rutgers leads the all-time series over Monmouth, 7-4. The Scarlet Knights have won four straight and are 6-1 against the Hawks since 2012 under head coach Meredith Civico. The last three meetings were decided by one goal, including a 1-0, double-overtime win last year, with Marique Dieudonne scoring the game-winner.

With A Win over Monmouth

Rutgers would be 8-4 all-time against Monmouth with five straight wins.
Rutgers would be 2-0 against New Jersey schools (Princeton and Monmouth) this year and 7-1 against the NJ schools over the past six seasons (since the start of 2018).
